    Making Waves this Fall Y'all!

Well, it's been a crazy busy summer for me, what with moving from Deerfield Beach to Coconut Creek, Florida, and teaching lots of painting, drawing and collage classes for the Broward County Library System's Summer Learning Program, and all the usual summer fun activities, but it was also a really good summer!

Now I'm gearing up for a busy Fall/Winter season with exhibits, art festivals and more art classes! I have many things in the works, but here's a quick run-down of some things that are already settled:

you have one more week to see my artwork on display with the National League of American Pen Women at the West Regional Library in Plantation, Florida. That exhibit runs until August 30, 2019, and is on the second floor of the library which is located at 8601 West Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33324.

my FIRST PLACE winning painting, Winged Summer, will be on exhibit for another three weeks at the Sugar Sand Park Community Center, 300 S Military Trail, Boca Raton, FL 33486. That's the Easy Livin' Exhibit, and it runs through September 16, 2019.

Look for me at the* Coconut Creek ArtsFest 2019* on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the Coconut Creek Community Center, 1100 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL from 11 a.m. til 4 p.m. Admission is free and along with lots of awesome fine art there will be arts and crafts for the kids, food trucks, entertainment, live music, and plenty of family fun! This will be my third year participating with this event and I'm looking forward to an awesome day. The art displays are located indoors, as in in the air conditioning! lol, so come see me and my paintings, and a bunch of other great artists' work as well!

I am offering a 4 week watercolor course, "Making Waves in Watercolor" this Fall. It kicks off on September 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Hobby Lobby in Dania Pointe Shopping Plaza, Dania Beach, Florida. Its $35 per lesson, 15% Discount when you pay for all 4 lessons in advance, and you WILL have Fun! while learning how to make some great waves! There's more details on the flyer at the top of this post.

I teach a Beginning Drawing class at that same Hobby Lobby location on Wednesdays, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Call, message, or email me to Register and get more details!

I am still teaching arts and crafts at the Dania Beach library the second Thursday of each month from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m., and at the Weston library I teach Watercolor painting the third Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. These classes are free to you and all supplies are provided courtesy of the Friends of the Library groups of each of these local libraries.

I have some more good things in the "still working on it" bin, so watch for another update in a few weeks or so!

    Have an Artful Day!

  • Summer is here, and I hope I'm ready!

    Hello all,

I've had a super busy Spring, moving from Deerfield Beach to Coconut Creek Florida being chief among my activities. And I am gearing up for a really busy Summer ahead! I will be teaching watercolor and book binding classes throughout the Broward County Library System all summer long, and if you contact me via email or text I will get you specifics on what classes I may have coming up in your area.

I am also still teaching Beginning Drawing on Wednesday afternoons and Watercolor/Water Media on Friday mornings, both classes using the classroom at the Dania Beach Hobby Lobby in the Dania Pointe shopping plaza just off I95 at Stirling Road. Call or email me to register (you can also use the Contact Me page here on my website).

I also hope to be taking advantage of every opportunity I can get to paint outside at various locations throughout beautiful South Florida.

    Paint On!

Want to know two great reasons to take art classes from me?
#1 Creating art is good for your brain and your soul,
AND #2 I’ll give you one FREE Introductory class when you call or email me to register before February 28!

Here’s some basic details on two great classes you can choose from (you can get class descriptions and more information from the flyers shown in my two previous posts below, January 15 part 1 and part 2 – just keep scrolling!):

WHERE: Hobby Lobby, 1750 S Bearing St, Dania Beach, FL 33004
This is the new location in the new Dania Pointe shopping center off the Stirling Road exit of I-95.

    WHAT & WHEN:
Beginning Drawing Classes Wednesday afternoons 2:30-4:30 p.m. COST: $25
Supplies: For your first class just bring any drawing or writing pen or pencil you are comfortable with, and some blank paper. We will start there. I will be providing a chance for you to try out several different types of pens and pencils and discussing how to choose the best drawing and sketching materials during the sessions. You can add colored pencils, pens, markers, watercolor paints etc. as much as you wish as we go along.

    Water Media Classes Friday mornings 11 am – 1:30 p.m. COST: $35
Supplies: Any #140 or heavier watercolor paper, #2 or HB pencil, round and flat watercolor brushes in a couple different sizes, set of watercolor paints in basic colors, watercolor palette, small container for water, table cover (or newsprint, to put under your work area to protect the table). You can get as creative with your tools and supplies as you wish. You may want to add colored pencils, pens, markers, acrylic paints, etc. as we go along.

You Must Call or Email to REGISTER in Advance! 954.654.4463 or clandis922@gmail.com (walk-ins are okay, but you're kinda taking a chance on there being space available, or that no last minute changes to the schedule had to be made. You can call me right up til one hour before class time.)

And I am still providing classes in many of the Broward County Library System branch locations. I have classes on the 2nd Thursday each month in the Dania Beach-Paul DeMaio Library at 2:30-4:30 p.m. and the 3rd Wednesdays each month in the Weston Branch Library at 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. I currently have a Collage Class scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2019 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Northwest Regional Library in Coral Springs, plus a Book Crafting Event on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the North Regional/Broward College Library in Coconut Creek.

If you have any questions please feel free to message, email, or call!
I look forward to hearing from you,

Also, I'm offering Water Media Classes at the same location, just a different day and time.

You will be responsible to bring in all your own supplies, but I will be offering assistance with knowing how to choose the best paints, papers, and brushes during our sessions so if you are uncertain on that, don't worry! I can help you find the tools and materials you will need, and if budget is an issue I can help advise you on how to get a good basic "kit" put together without breaking the bank.

If you have any questions please feel free to message, email, or call!

I can't believe how fast time goes by, and how long it's been since I posted something on here! I've been working on my art, teaching a lot of workshops over the summer, and also looking to buy a house (what an education I've been getting on that score!) so I have been incredibly busy and I guess that is what makes the time go by so fast. Never a dull moment!

I've added many more of my paintings to my FineArtAmerica store where you can get prints and framed prints of my work and many more items such as tote bags, coffee cups, greeting cards and phone cases, to name a few, and I've added a whole new store at Society6, which has some of the most unique and cool merchandise options on which you can get my artwork printed, like serving trays, cutting boards, throw pillows and blankets, even some furniture! Links to these are on the Get In Touch page; check them out!

And here's a pic of my updated quarterly postcard, showing dates and locations of my upcoming workshops, and art events I'll be participating in. It isn't a complete list since I can only fit so much information in the space, but it's got a lot of the main things and if you have questions you can feel free to message me either from here via the Get In Touch page, or on Facebook.

    Happy Arting!

I’ve decided to add a News page to my website! My intention is to publish my schedule of classes and workshops I’m teaching, and a list of where my artwork is on exhibit out there in “the real world,” -- which statement really bugs my daughters because they think the online world is real. And yes, I know what they mean, but I think they know what I mean too.% (If this was a text I could and would insert a smiley face here, so just imagine there is one!)%
I may also throw in some thought for the day, or snippets of poetry that I happen to be mulling over, or any other thing that may have caught my attention and made me want to share it. Because I love to share. Sharing is connecting. Especially if we’re sharing chocolates, or favorite books. Or the glue stick in art class. Sharing and connecting with the people in my life is comforting, and comfortable. I think that is why I paint the things I paint. I paint things that bring me comfort, and I want to share that comfort with those around me. I think that is why I love to teach art classes too. I love it when people put something on their paper or canvas that makes them smile. And I love knowing that I helped them do that. … I’m starting to think maybe the word for today is tangent…. Oopsie!

So, to kick things off, here’s some of that info:
